TRACK DAY, BRO. What did you bring, a Lotus Elise? I guess that's fine, if your idea of a track day is taking a nice nap. Me, I'm coming in this: the Lotus Elise S Cup, the most extreme road-going Elise ever.
The UK's Autocar reports that this Elise sits above even the Elise S and Elise Club Racer as the most track-focused Elise that you can spend your cold, hard British pounds on. It's basically a street-legal version of the Elise S Cup R race car.
And like that car it packs a supercharged 1.8-liter four-banger good for 217 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It weighs a mere 2,055 pounds and can hit 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds.
The S Cup packs the same aero kit as the race car, only here Lotus engineers were kind enough to add headlamps. It can also be retrofitted for an electric kill switch, as well as a fire extinguisher in case any Ferraris show up to your next track day too. (That was a joke, son.)
Speaking of track days, remember how I said I'd bring this to my next one? I was lying because only the track variants of the Elise and Exige are sold in the U.S. now, and there's no word on whether this one will make it over.
I know, life isn't fair.
