As if we needed more evidence that 2006 will be the Year of the Crossover, AutoWeek reports Mazda's will release a new sport wagon based on its MX-Crossport concept by next year. The lumpy, new crossover SUV, built on the company's Mazda6 platform, will reportedly see production daylight sometime during Spring 2006, following several lineup additions, including the Mazda5 Minivan, remodeled Miata and Mazdaspeed6. The new models are part of the Ford brand's turnaround strategy, which already resulted in a 1.5 percent sales increase over last year.
