Gabriel Matthews went to a dealership in Pennsylvania to buy a Maserati. He wrote two checks to cover the $60,616 price. Then the dealership called Matthews' bank and found out his account had been closed. Now he's on the run, charged with three crimes. Didn't quite think this one through, did we?
According to police the 22-year-old from North Wales, Pennsylvania went into Car Connections USA in West Whiteland Township last week and got a salesperson to fill out the paperwork on a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte. After the bank put the kibosh on his checks, Matthews told a dealership employee he would come back with a different form of payment. He left and never returned. Investigators later found out he never had enough money in his bank account to cover the price of the car. Shocking!
Police in West Whiteland Township issued a warrant for Matthews, who faces charges of Criminal Attempt Theft by Deception, Bad Checks, Access Device Fraud and derping while derp.
Police have been unable to find Matthews, who may or may not be this particular Gabriel Matthews.
