In Compton, California, a man stood atop of a tow truck as it dragged a fifth-generation Nissan Altima through the streets, blowing the sedan’s front tires and showering sparks everywhere in a loud, chaotic scene straight out of a Michael Bay film. It’s all very Florida, but in California this time.
The video shows a Ford F-550 yanking a helpless Nissan Altima down a street, dragging its wheels and front fascia on the asphalt. The tires have apparently fallen off, and the front bumper cover looks to be well on its way towards doing the same.
A woman and man in an eighth-generation Honda Civic are giving chase, blowing through stop signs as the dangling Nissan Altima floods the street with sparks, smoke and horrifying metal-on-asphalt cries for help.
Besides what’s apparent in the video, I don’t know a whole lot about this incident other than what Nyiesha McDonald, the person who apparently took the video, wrote in the comments section of her Facebook post. Here’s what she had to say:
She says the owner of the Nissan Altima noticed his car being dragged away in a repossession, so Nyiesha picked him up to chase it. The Nissan’s owner then hopped from Nyiesha’s car onto the back of the tow truck, and that’s where the video commences.
The video leaves me with more questions than answers, so I’ve reached out to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Compton Station to learn more about what the hell is going on.
