This weekend Jalopnik's attending the 2010 Maker Faire: Detroit as an official sponsor. The Midwest's largest do-it-yourself event is running July 31st and August 1st at The Henry Ford in Dearborn and will be the place to be this weekend.

A 26-foot-tall fire-breathing statue of Red Green made of duct tape, Power Wheels racing and open discussions about creating "Detroit 2.0," that's the kind of stuff to expect at this year's Maker Faire. It's a collection of some of the world's most creative people doing what they do best: make. This year Jalopnik is an official sponsor of the event and we'll be heading down to cover the best and weirdest of what's there.

The Faire runs 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM Saturday, then 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM Sunday, though we'll be taking an early look tomorrow. Tickets and information can be had at Maker Faire's website and we hope to see you there.
