It's the end of an era — the last of the Lotus "comeback cars." Lotus will reveal the Exige Matte Black Final Edition – an exclusive bit for North America — at the Pebble Beach car-o-thon next week.

The sendoff Exige — of which the company's only building 25 units — gets a power upgrade to 257 hp, matte-finish black paint, black Alacantara sport seats and other equipment. Alas, poor Exige, we knew him well.

But that's not all for the company's Pebble Beach doomed car mischief. Also on display will be the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept. That's a show car based on the company's GTE racecar, which will compete in the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours. The Road Car Concept produces "over 420 hp" from its race-developed engine, connected to an AMT sequential racing gearbox. Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires wrap lightweight forged alloys with center locking hubs. Are we looking at a one-off or a new Lotus Challenge Series customer racecar?
