While the French compare LSD-inspired cars to furniture, the Italians at Maserati go further and actually build chairs.
Called the Maserati Lounge Chair by Zanotta, this piece was designed by Marco Tencone at the Centro Stile Maserati under the direction of Lorenzo Ramaciotti for the International Furniture Fair 2013 as an homage to the Maserati Quattroporte, a car that is still uglier than its predecessor.
The bullshit meter is way over the scale with this press release as well, but the idea was to create something that would answer the following question: ’If Maserati was an armchair, what would it be like?’
Apparently, it would be a comfortable one with a black polished or chromed nickel-plated steel base, covered in the finest leather processed by the old ‘capitonné’ technique created around 1800, simplified by the lack of buttons. But unlike in the interiors of a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley, imperfections remain untouched as these enhance the authenticity and naturalness of the material. Nice touch!
What would your butt say?
