According to Carscoop, the Land Rover gents are preparing to update the LR Defender somewhat ambiguously with a series of "significant upgrades" that will enhance the "ownership experience" and keep the old-school SUV in compliance with "forthcoming legislation." While such verbiage could indicate the new Defender will no longer degenerate to rust when exposed to a single Martha's Vineyard winter, as well as be forced to uphold tenets of the Endangered Species Compliance and Transparency Act of 2006, it more likely means it'll have air bags and better emissions. Of course, we're not sure exactly what they are, but the improvements are said to be keeping the Defender viable until at least 2010.
