In an effort to make a trashy idea acceptable to the well heeled, custom auto shop, Kleemann, has created a scissor door system it believes is of a quality equaling the Mercedes SL roadster, on which it's been adapted. The doors are part of a fully automatic hydraulic system, not just a gas-assisted spring job like many other pimp-daddy solutions. For most car nuts, the system evokes the 1954 Mercedes SL, with its groundbreaking gullwing doors, which many speculated would be offered on a factory limited-edition SL, when the redesigned model was introduced a few years back, in honor of the SL's 50th anniversary last year. Thankfully, it wasn't.
