We've been watching this car ever since our friend Cole Foster first sent us the Keith Weesner rendering back in 2002. The last time we saw it, in late July of '05, it was closer still to being finished. And now, after over three years of wrenching, it's out of the shop for upholstery and due to debut at Paso Robles in a couple of weeks. It's Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett '36 Ford, built by Salinas Boys, and it has to be one of the most hotly-anticipated rods of the last decade. Kirk spared no expense, and Cole spared no detail. We can't wait to see this thing. The final issue of Gearhead that Davey G. edited is out now, with Cole on the cover. And don't worry, he'll still be contributing. Okay, plug over.
