With VW's Golf Plus TDI already making the European rounds (e.g., from IKEA to Marks & Spencer to Aldi and back), tuning shops have begun applying their customary tweakage. First up is German tuning haus, JE Design, whose diesel mods have given the Touareg TDI a horsepower boost to rival its massive torque output. On the Golf Plus (the high-roof, family model), JE's $1,400 power kit ups the power and torque of the 2.0-liter TDI, adding 36 hp to total 176 hp, with peak torque of 300 lbs/ft (up from 227). The body kit will cost an extra year's worth of baby formula.
