Japanese Nav System Uses Aerial Photo Maps

Navigational software developer, Navitime Japan, has added low-altitude, high-res aerial photo maps to its personal walking/car route-finder application, complementing current vector maps with actual topographies. Like vector maps, the photo maps can be scrolled, zoomed in on and rotated, and can indicate live information, such as traffic jams. The system is available only for NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900i and 901i series mobile phones, which are equipped with a Macromedia Flash browser.
