To more than a few observers, the rise and fall of GM's EV1 electric car was just another example of the continuing failure of EV cars to be viable as transportation — how they're just a pipe dream of crunchy enviro-engineero-scientifo-do-gooders with more money than common sense. After all, the market had apparently spoken with one voice. Or had it? A new movie from Sony Pictures, narrated by former US President, Martin Sheen, examines the EV1's story for signs of influence by major industrial forces (i.e., big oil) that hastened the EV1's demise. It opens for coastal elites on June 28, with a wider opening for the rabble sometime after that. [Thanks to Ilari and Steven for the tip.]
