We can only imagine Mr. Stewart balancing the ethical pros and cons of proclaiming to the world that the Tempo is a driver's car. It drives, right? We're wondering if he's still driving one today.
@danio3834: You see a lot of flack aimed at Cavaliers and Escorts because they weren't "refined" or didn't have pleasing, butt-swaddling interiors. But I sure see a lot of them dragging their whipped out rusted old flanks down the road and by that fact alone they couldn't have been all bad.
2 years after the Yugo was released you couldn't find one running. That was a bad car. Most people I know that had a Cavalier or Escort got close to 200,000 miles and have fond memories of their little beaters. As we used to say about Vegas, "check the gas and fill the oil".
They weren't fine automobiles but they were okay transportation for a lot of people.
'87 Cutlas calais 5spd? - They made a 200 HP Quad4 442 for a year or so... There was even a convertible. Not a good motor though, the Ecotec is a much better design.
