Although not confirmed by FoMoCo officials, Whitey McDonald, CAW Chair of Local 1520 at the St. Thomas plant in Canada, says that Ford is finally installing a fire-suppression system in Crown Victoria police cruisers. Vics have become rather notorious for bursting into flame when rear-ended at high-speeds, and a number of suits have been filed against Ford by law enforcement agencies. While Ford maintains that it's the dangerous nature of police work rather than any design flaw with the car, they're undoubtedly worried about the threat of the new Dodge Charger, which DCX is hoping takes a chunk out of Ford's po-po pie.
