One of our readers sent us an interesting find from a Cars and Coffee event in Irvine, California this morning: a car that appears to be the next Shelby GT350, cleverly hidden under a Mustang-shaped tarp. Whaaaa? (UPDATE: No it's not.)
Our reader sent this in and said it's the 2014 Shelby GT350. We don't have any info or specs on this car yet, and we've reached out to Shelby and Ford to see what's up. But it does like quite different from the 2013 GT350, particularly the matte black taillamp housing and center-mounted exhaust pipes.
Rumors about a 2014 Shelby GT350 have been circulating since the end of last year as part of the Ford lineup like the GT500.
The current Shelby-built GT350 ranges from a 430 horsepower naturally aspirated version, to supercharged variants with either 525 or 624 horsepower. Maybe this one will get a power boost. God only knows how much higher it can go.
At the same time I'm a bit skeptical about this one since it's already license-plated and everything.
If you have any clues about this car, feel free to drop them in the comments.
Update: A Ford spokesman says it's not one of theirs. We're waiting to hear what Shelby says, but as several of you have pointed out it looks an awful lot like an older model.
