IRL notables Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon teamed up with NASCAR sprout Casey Mears to take on the sporty-car types, open-wheelers and men of the KFC circuit alike and came out on top with their Chip Ganassi-owned Lexus-powered Riley. Despite a couple of mechanical issues, the Riley managed to prove less troublesome than the faster Alex Job Racing Crawford-Porsche, taking the race by a lap. While we don't think that the Grand-Am prototypes are nearly as sexy as the LMPs, attracting this broad swath of drivers to Daytona's a feather in France family's collective cap. Now if the ALMS could do the same thing at Laguna Seca, or the ACO could together an Anglo-European roster that would measure up, whooo...we're shiverin' just at the thought.
