The constant threat of narco-terrorism has everyone in Mexico on edge, which might explain why a pair of motorcycles backfiring sent crowds scattering in San Luis Potosi, Mexico this weekend. It's also why authorities in the town are charging the motorcyclists with terrorism.

C'mon, folks. loud pipes save lives. How many times do we need to tell you?

There's some debate as to whether or not the two motorcyclists intentionally revved their bikes in order to set off a stampede during an Easter week celebration, but no one is disputing the property damage and injuries that resulted. Both men have been charged under the country's terrorism laws and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted, even if it's highly unlikely.

So, next time you're in Mexico, keep loud noises to a minimum.

Can we just have an ixnay on ALL motorcycle revving at stoplights (tho the fact that i've never seen it happen in person ever makes me think its less of a problem than the internets makes it out to be).

Motorcycles just don't sound that good compared with cars. Okay the Ducati Desmosedici and the Aprilia RSV4 are pretty beastly but everything else just sounds relatively crappy: that goes for I3 Triumphs, V2 Ducatis Harlies KTMs and Aprilias, parallel twin Triumphs, single cylinder dirtbikes and of course the ubiquitous "crotch rockets" (and yes i use that term with derision).

And I say that as the previous owner of a fully-Termi-piped Ducati with a dry clutch...

The ONLY vehicles which get a pass on revving at lights are V8 muscle cars of any sort, be they 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 or 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG or 2012 Camaro ZL1; Ferraris Lambos and other exotics and errrm thats it! No Civics with fart can exhausts, no BMW M series cars unless they're running Akra full systems, no trucks or mid size saloon cars. JUST those two aforementioned groups: muscle cars and exotics. Cool? :)
