The Reatta had a lot going for it, with its super-futuristic touch-screen dash and all, but Buick's core buyer demographic hadn't quite adjusted to the radical look of the Model 71 Roadmaster back in '46, much less this… this spaceship!


At 25 grand, or a bit more than a brand-new 1988 BMW 325, the Reatta's list price scared off most of the younger buyers (many of whom weren't so happy about the lack of an overhead-cam engine, turbocharging, and/or a manual transmission), and so the Reatta ended up being yet another really cool GM idea that didn't work so well in practice.
