In case you missed the big news, Jalopnik's $500 Craigslist rally driver is going to be on the big screen, so we invited our readers to play casting director with eight key roles (and two superfluous ones). Here are the entertaining results.

Welcome back to Answers of the Day — our Jalopnik summer feature where we take the best ten responses from the previous day's Question of the Day and shine it up to show off. It's by you and for you, the Jalopnik readers. Enjoy!

9.) Jeremy Irons

Playing The Role Of: The Evil WRC Official

Suggested By: evoCS

Why They Should Get The Part: If the guy can go from Scar in The Lion King to The Bad Guy from Die Hard 3, then he'll surely have no problem as the evil WRC FIA representative hell-bent on keeping our hero from running his ancient BMW rally car with the modern WRC machinery. Irons has the cool, calculating air about him that can scare the crap out of moviegoers.

8.) Andy Garcia

Playing The Role Of: Roberto Mendoza (The Good WRC Official)

Suggested By: Ninja650r

Why They Should Get The Part: We think Andy Garcia can loosen up and sneak Bill into the race. Perhaps he should play it a little aloof, and try to convince Jeremy Irons he didn't realize he'd given Bill the go-ahead?

7.) Steve Carell

Playing The Role Of: Paul Donlin (Bill's friend & Colorado Co-driver)

Suggested By: zerobandwidth

Why They Should Get The Part: Steve Carell would be great as "the co-driver with no experience who's easily spooked." Can you imagine him in a crash helmet, bugging out? We can, and it's hilarious.

6.) Bill Caswell

Playing The Role Of: Pedro Mooninite

Suggested By: spikejnz

Why They Should Get The Part: Who better to bare all in front of a camera than the very madman who inspired the whole thing? We're pretty sure he'd get a real kick out of doing it, too, though we're guessing he doesn't have the box office draw of Jeremy Renner.

5.) Kathy Bates

Playing The Role Of: Bill's Mom

Suggested By: marimvibe

Why They Should Get The Part: Bill's Mom has to exude a calm air about her and may have to give Bill some kind of inspiring speech when things get dire while building the car. Kathy Bates has the gravity to pull it off and still go crazy cheering him on from the sidelines in the Hollywood-style tear-jerker ending.

4.) Amy Adams

Playing The Role Of: Melanie, Bill's Fiancee

Suggested By: SennaMP4

Why They Should Get The Part: Amy Adams is cute, and already has experience in a car movie. If she can handle Will Ferrell, she can probably handle Bill Caswell.

3.) Philip Seymour Hoffman

Playing The Role Of: Ben Slocum, the Mexico co-driver

Suggested By: marimvibe

Why They Should Get The Part: Philip Seymour Hoffman has the versatility needed to play Slocum. He can do the devil-may-care attitude that's needed to play a half-blind rally co-driver who's never met the man who will hold his life in his hands while still spitting pace notes at 100 miles per hour. Add a pinch of dark humor (they almost died, remember), and you've got him. Think a cross between The Count from Pirate Radio and Gust from Charlie Wilson's War.

2.) Paul Rudd

Playing The Role Of: Sam Smith

Suggested By: pj134

Why They Should Get The Part: We just need to make sure Mr. Rudd is fed a strict diet of caffeine and candy and not allowed to sleep for about a week before shooting starts. He'll do fine.

1.) Jonathan Silverman

Playing The Role Of: Ray Wert

Suggested By: LyleLanley

Why They Should Get The Part: Has anyone seen Jonathan Silverman in anything lately? The guy needs work. And he looks a little like Ray. I'm sold.
