Since Alfa Romeo is an Italian car company, people often write about their cars being graceful and stylish and beautiful or whatever other national tropes they could remember. The thing is, Alfas often look kinda weird.
I say this as a hardcore alfisti (ask me about the GTAm!), but a lot of Alfa Romeos look more strange than pretty. They're rarely outright ugly, but there's always something a little off about their details or proportions.
The classic 1960s Giulia, for instance, has its inset headlights mounted low, so that the car always looks like it has a furrowed brow. Like it's always a little angry and confused.
It's interesting, it's engaging, but it's not gorgeous.
There's a very long history of Alfa building interesting cars that are great to drive and sing like Pavarotti (dammit! I swore I wouldn't use clichés), but had a few overly bold decisions made in the styling department. I can think of a few off the top of my head, but what's your favorite?
