Hyundai Veloster Turbo's exhausts will swallow your cat

As the Hyundai Veloster hits dealerships, Hyundai executives have avoided denying a more powerful version than the 138 hp it has now. Here's proof the turbo version is well on its way.

Caught driving near Hyundai's technical center in Ann Arbor, Mich., by a sharp-eyed Jalopnik reader, the first sign this isn't a plain Veloster is the use of partial camouflage, an unnecessary step on a model already in dealerships and on the company's web site. The real tip-off is the tips themselves; where the regular Veloster has trapezoidal center exhausts below the rear bumper, this one has larger circular pipes.

Putting a turbo on the 1.6-liter engine would give the Veloster a Q-ship appeal that's sorely lacking among modern American compacts, and give Hyundai something to sell against sportier offerings from Scion.

Hat tip to Mike!
