The Academy prohibits nominees and award presenters from appearing in ads during the Oscars, a problem for Korean automaker/adspace devourer Hyundai who uses Jeff Bridges as their pitchman. The solution? Use a bunch of losers, instead.
Standing in for Bridges will be Kim Basinger, Catherine Keener, David Duchovny, Richard Dreyfuss, Michael Madsen, Mandy Patinkin and Martin Sheen. None of them were nominated for anything or fashionable/attractive/interesting enough to be invited to present. Maybe if they used all those actors to make a sappy romance movie they'd be able to get on the broadcast without having to shill Sonatas. [USA Today]
