Sources at GM say Hummer is developing a new vehicle in the realm of the "dune buggy" theme the brand's general manager, Susan Docherty, alluded to earlier this year. The Jeep Wrangler competitor would likely be dubbed Hummer H4 (ya think?) and could hit the market as early as 2008, though the company has yet to pick a platform for what would likely be a two-door ragtop at base. According to AutoWeek, engineers could use a shortened version of GM s small pickup platform, on which the new H3 rides, to underpin the vehicle, but have likely nixed plans to use a 1963 VW Bug chassis like other dune buggies.
