How The New Hyundai Elantra Intends To "Save The Asterisks"

Automakers often build limited edition asterisk-festooned fuel economy models so they can claim eco-leadership in advertising. Hyundai's just going to make every 2011 Elantra capable of 40 MPG on the highway. Save the asterisks, save the world? Apparently. In fact, Hyundai wants to highlight the marketing B.S. by breaking out sales of vehicles that get 40 MPG in their monthly press release. Hyundai thinks they'll sell more 40 MPG Elantras in January than any two competitors will sell special edition high fuel economy models in the entire 2011 calendar year. Smart marketing move. We approve.
