I’m of a particular mindset, in which the mileage of a car not only doesn’t factor into a purchase consideration, but the more miles the car has, the better it tends to be. However, I’ve noticed that these views have become increasingly controversial, so I pose this question to my readers and long time lurkers - does a car’s mileage really matter?
As a primer as to my experiences with higher-than-normal mileage cars, I currently own five cars with more than 100,000 miles, three of them possessing more than 200,000 on their odometers. I’ve also driven a car with more than 900,000 miles on the clock across the country without as much as a hiccup because it was maintained quite well by its previous owners, maintenance being the key word in the sentence.
Can someone explain to me why some people are so damned afraid of high mileage?
