Fire the guy with the grease gun! Apparently, windshield wiper motors installed in 235,000 Ford cars and trucks were improperly lubed, leading to a possible fracture of the gears during continuous high-speed wiper use. Stands to reason if the wipers are going full bore, the weather's pretty bad, and if the wipers are bad and the weather's worse, accidents are inevitable. The affected vehicles? The E-150 through 450 vans; the Escape Expedtion, Explorer, Mountaineer, Mariner and Navigator SUVs; the F-150 and Mark LT pickups; and the hoary old Taurus sedan. In the wake of yesterday's Escape/Five Hundred/Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car recalls, this bodes rather ill for the automaker where quality was once Job 1.
