Honda announced today it's bringing a club racer-inspired Honda S2000 prototype (not shown) to the New York auto show. The company says the S2000 CR was created with Honda performance enthusiasts in mind (though no details on what that means). Still, the concept won't be just a turntable queen. The S2000 CR will be available as a new trim level when the 2008 S2000 model goes on sale in fall 2007. Maybe Honda's trying to get the VTEC set off their ledge, following rumors the next S2000 will be a more sedate touring car badged as an Acura. Or maybe it's just the company's way of saying sayonara.
