Honda just issued a recall for 800,000 minivans. The reason?
Well, they might roll away all willy nilly. Yeah. That's not a positive thing.
The recall includes 318,000 Odyssey minivans and 259,000 Pilots from 2003-2004 s well as 230,000 Acura MDXs from 2003 until 2006. They've recalled nearly 2.2 million cars now for this exact problem.
Honda says that a small number of incidents have occurred that led to the latest recall. And by "small number," they mean that 42 minivans have gone on their own, wait for it, Odyssey (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) and have run amok on hills and in parking lots nationwide. One car rolled into a retaining wall and another went down a hill and into a now deceased mailbox.
If you own an Odyssey, we suggest parking it on a perfectly level surface at all times. If you need to park it on a hill, aim it away from nurseries, nursing homes, hospitals, and large, inflammable tanks that could combust when hit by two tons of runaway steel.
