Irish regional airline CityJet's Avro RJ85 aircraft decided to ditch a few bits of its wing mid-flight between London and Florence, but a successful emergency landing took care of the problem without any injuries.
The sixty one passengers and four crew members heard a loud bang shortly after takeoff from London City Airport, followed by a six foot long wing mechanism cover detaching from the plane.

The pilot managed to turn back above the Thames Estuary and land the plane safely, with the passengers reaching their destinations just two hours behind schedule.
