Harley-Davidson, already enduring its worst market conditions in decades, now has another problem to contend with: It has announced a recall of over 300,000 motorcycles because heat from the exhaust system may cook the rear brake-light switch, killing the brake light, and possibly leading to fluid leakage and rear brake failure.
The recall covers the company's touring bikes, both standard and upmarket CVO models, and trikes produced from 2009 to 2012. Dealers will install an updated, more exhaust-friendly brake light kit free of charge.
