Following a weekend sit-down in Japan, which led many to speculate some sort of reverse VJ Day was imminent, General Motors CEO Richard Wagoner and Toyota President Fujio Cho agreed to strengthen a partnership to develop environmentally friendly vehicles, such as those powered by fuel cells. Nothing was signed and no "will sell Buick for food" signs were spotted. Still, deal the companies strike will likely give GM access to the hybrid technologies it once rebuffed, and could give Toyota a peek at to GM's high-profile fuel-cell initiatives. [Update: Robert Farago of The Truth About Cars is not convinced the story isn't a cover for something bigger, or is more than a baby step toward solving GM's woes. See his latest rant.]
