Five airports with over 1.2 million arrivals and departures every year. Welcome to London, where planes fly in giant circles!
National Air Traffic Services has been the main air navigation service provider in the United Kingdom since 1962, and by now, traffic over London grew so large that they handle over 3,000 flights every day using just six runways.
NATS is also very proud that 99.8 percent of those flights experience no air traffic control related delay. Which might even be true, but I don’t remember when was the last time my plane landed or departed on time in London. I guess I’m just unlucky.
