Motorsports development firm, Reiter Engineering will take over the Murci lago R-GT racecar program from Lamborghini, beginning in 2005. Introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the racing-tuned R-GT, jointly developed by Reiter and Audi Sport, has competed in such racing series as American Le Mans and Japan's JCTC.
Reiter has built all of the R-GTs currently competing, and will upgrade and build five additional cars. The extra-light R-GTs, converted from all-wheel to rear-wheel-drive per racing rules, sports an air-restricted six-liter Lamborghini V12 motor and sequential gearbox.
