Who'd have thought the masters of Teutonic tech at BMW could work so amiably with the populist slide-rule jockeys at Peugeot-Citro n? It must be their taste in cologne, because the two companies are planning to expand the partnership, which spawned 1.4- and 1.6-liter engines for the latest Mini Cooper, by studying a new family of four-cylinder gas engines, potentially of the 2.0-liter variety. A new engine family could penetrate the PSA line, as well as find itself in European BMWs, as well as new variants of the Mini Cooper. Of course, we've already leaped ahead to imagine a BMW-Peugeot rally team using a combination of 1-Series and Peugeot 207-based racers. But we've already gone too far.
