And speaking of Mercedes SLRs, Emirati rally driver Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who shoehorned a Merc-McLaren SLR engine into an SLK55, has been at it once again. This time, he — and his unconscionably talented staff of mechanics — swapped the already potent AMG mill from an E55 with an SLR powerplant (are they selling crate motors now?). According to a tipster, the transmission was modified to take 922 ft-lbs of torque, the limited-slip diff was reworked and the SLR's stock intercooler system was modified. What's the upshot? If it performs half as well as his SLK (see this video of it facing down an Enzo), Sulayem's E-SLR will be a major desert beastie. [Thanks again to Khaled for the tip.]
