According to an interview in Evo Magazine with the head of Ford's RS team, the company has killed plans for an RS-tuned version of the 2010 Ford Fiesta. Has the Carpocalypse claimed another stillborn über-ride?
Initial reports from abroad suggested the new Fiesta RS would come with a turbocharged 1.6-liter fourbanger good for a speculated 200 HP in a tiny package. Performance would be somewhere in the range of a six-second 0-to-62 MPH run paired with go kart-like handling. Unfortunately, this kind of vehicle requires a lot of work for a little profit and is therefore inconsistent with current economic realities. Those who want more bang for their tiny bucks can still get a Mountune ST in the Europe.
