Federal Safety Agency Not Likely to Require New Rollover Test

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration won't likely change its roof-strength test, to the frustration of consumer advocate groups pushing for what they feel is an important adjustment to testing procedure. After extensive research, the agency determined that changing the angle of testing — which advocates say would provide a more accurate portrayal of real-world damage and injuries — would not substantially affect results. It also ruled out out full-scale rollover crash tests, because they are not repeatable, which nullifies the scientific method.
