Rosco McGlashan, the "Fastest Aussie on Earth," will attempt to become the fastest man on earth, period, by exceeding 900 mph in a rocket-powered car. His car (man, that is one hell of an understatement), dubbed the Aussie Invader 5R, is being designed with assistance from by rocket motor developer SpaceDev, provider of propulsion technology for the history-making suborbital aircraft SpaceShipOne. In 1997, McGlashan reached 642 mph in an earlier version of the Aussie Invader car (above), and will attempt to break the current land speed record of 763 mph, held by Andy Green of Great Britain, likely at Black Rock, Nevada.
