FAA chief arrested for DUI

In a bizarre convergence of Planelopnik and Daily DUI, FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt has been placed on leave following an arrest for driving under the influence near his Fairfax, VA home. This is probably the first DUI arrest of which President Obama was immediately informed.

According to police, Babbitt was pulled over after officers spotted him driving on the wrong side of the road and was subsequently charged with the DUI. It's Babbitt's second driving offense in the county in recent years; in 2006 he was convicted of reckless driving and ordered to pay a $500 fine.

The arrest is likely bad news for Babbitt's career. While he's been dealing with the aftermath of air traffic controllers falling asleep on the job, his boss, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has been fighting texting and driving, calling it, "the deadliest epidemic."
