It was almost too perfect. A few months ago, just as the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie began filming, Chrysler announced it would reintroduce the Dodge Charger for 2006 as a hemi-powered sport sedan. Just then, the smart money was on Chrysler to pull off the most perfect marketing placement to support a vehicle launch in the history of the auto industry. We were positive the company would somehow get the new Charger cast as the General Lee, the film's auto star, which most fans know was a peak-year 1969 Charger. No such luck. As these photos from an MTV visit to the set show, producers went with the original General. We suppose it makes sense, plot-wise. Where would the Duke boys get $30,000 to blow on a new Charger? Moonshine don't bring in the bucks like it used to.
