The Porsche 911 is known for it's road racing prowess. But there's an evil twin. The Paris-Dakar Porsche 953. Here's why it's the standard car's heretic brother.

During the Pebble Beach orgasmic car weekend, Porsche let rally driver and film maker Jeff Zwart take the 953 out for a slight bit of off roading around the area of The Quail Lodge. We might have also seen it driving on the road in that area, but that's neither here nor there.

What is here and there is how it handles anything that is thrown at it off road. This is a car that ran from Paris to Dakar when that rally's name still meant something. It was one of the most grueling races in the world, so driving some nice off road areas around California is like a ride down to the grocery store for this car.

And if the rumored new 911 Safari offroader is a real thing, then we might soon see a new generation of off road 911 heretics. I'm ok with that.
