Even if it's a dud, keeping a grenade in your vehicle can get you in a lot of trouble. But Jeryd Priddy didn't seem to consider such behavior as aberrant as he cruised through Oildale, Calif. with a short-barreled shotgun and a dud grenade in his truck. The cops did.
It didn't help that Priddy is a convicted felon, and isn't supposed to have anything to do with firearms. Police called in a bomb squad to check out the grenade, and even though it was inert, Priddy was still charged with possession of the grenade.
That might be the most excitement Merle Haggard's hometown has seen since the country music legend got out of prison and started making records.
