Did the Cadillac ATS lap the Nürburgring in 8:28.09?

Cadillac's beating of the war drums for the new ATS sedan begins with this short clip of a test model making a run at the Nürburgring, where you can hear what may be General Motors' new 2-liter turbocharged four-banger screaming from beneath the hood. But is it nipping at the BMW 3-Series' heels?

At the end of this promo video shot by Cadillac, we hear a reference to "28:09." Assuming that the ATS isn't running with the Porsche Carrera GT, that would refer to a lap of 8:28.09, just a couple of seconds slower than the previous-generation BMW 335i Coupe and slightly faster than the Audi TT-S.

I for one hope Cadillac continues to use the 'Ring as a proving ground, at least through the next version of the Escalade EXT.
