The Religious Society of Friends, commonly referred to as the Quakers, is a Christian denomination founded in England in the seventeenth century. While the Friends are small in number, totaling somewhere around 350,000 worldwide, they have made a large impact on the world through strong traditions of peace and social justice. Many well-known nongovernmental organizations were founded by Quakers, including Greenpeace and Amnesty International. Another Friends-affiliated nonprofit group, the American Friends Service Committee, was founded in 1917 and is committed to carrying out "service, development, social justice, and peace programs throughout the world". At the height of the "Red Scare" in 1955, the AFSC published a pamphlet called "Speak Truth To Power" advocating a peaceful resolution to the Cold War. The phrase "speaking truth to power" endures today, often used for anyone who maintains an unpopular position in the face of criticism or ridicule. In these heady days of Carpocalypse, it takes a brave man to stick up for the downtrodden Pentastar, as Deartháir did in the discussion of the Chrysler 200C EV Concept:

Uh. Guys? Why are you complaining?? Let's go through this again.

Mid-sized REAR WHEEL DRIVE attractive sedan with a potent little V6 in it? You KNOW they're gonna dump a small-block V8 in there at some point. Shit, it's Chrysler, they put the Viper engine in a motorcycle, there's someone out there trying to get it to fit in this car right now.

If they can manage to find someone other than Rubbermaid to make the interior, this is actually a car I would want. With a small V8 and RWD in it, this is a car I would want very badly indeed.

Sure thing, buddy. We're right, um, behind you.
