Commenter Of The Day: Sergey Mikhalkov Edition

Childrens book author Sergey Mihkalkov is famous for many things, but is probably best known as the author of the Soviet national anthem not just once, not just twice, but three times. The first version of the anthem was requested by Joseph Stalin and, not surprisingly, included a reference to Uncle Joe himself. Once Stalin died and the country tried to move away from their KGB-enforced Stalin lovefest he was asked, again, to come up with a new anthem sans nods to their former leader. When the country shifted away from Communism it was time to have a slightly less Communist anthem for 2001 and Putin looked to Mikhalkov again for the words. When it comes to the MaRussia, we've gotten some conflicting information about the vehicle but, as A Strolling Player pointed out, towing the company line is as easy as changing the tune in Russia.
