The goal as a company is to have customer service that is not just the best, but legendary. Well done is better than well said. In business you get what you want by giving other people what they want. Although your customers won't love you if you give bad service, your competitors will.

Prawdo Jazdy points out the excellent customer service both Ford and Toyota are providing to people with safety-related recalls by giving them bodges rather than full fixes. In Ford's case they're installing a fuse to fix a switch that's caused multiple house fires and two deaths.

Toyota laughs at you Ford. Everyone knows a couple of zip ties at 12 cents a piece will fix this whole thing and make it go away.
