We rarely write about boats on tha Jalop. We even more rarely write about boats that don't travel under some sort of mechanical power. While the dugout canoe may be the true inverse of the unlimited hydroplane, we have to drop some qualified props to the crew of the Stallion — likely known in Japan as the Starion — in their quest to float from Denmark to Dublin. Which, as a matter of fact, they accomplished, albeit with the aid of GPS and a 345-mile tow across the North Sea. Kon-Tiki it ain't. It's not even high-caliber Bonneville or Branson-esque by that measure. But it's still pretty goddamn amazing. [Guardian, UK]
