In other Pebble Beach news, DaimlerChrysler unveiled the 300C SRT-8, a hot-rod version of its 300C, at the Concours d Elegance yesterday. In addition to three extra letters and a number, the SRT-8 will have a new, 6.1 liter Hemi V8 that generates 425 horsepower — that's the same rating as Mopar's original 426 cubic-inch Hemi of the 1960s. (We don't know if it has the 426's 490 ft/lbs of torque, however. We're guessing it doesn't. — UPDATE: According to The Car Connection, It's got 420 ft/lb., which is most definately in stump-pulling territory) It's a mean machine, created by Chrysler's Street and Racing Technology group, where miracles are being bestowed daily on Dodge Neons and Ram pickup trucks. This 300 will surely have every dad-racer in town cashing in his Mercury Marauder for a touch of Mopar madness.
