When we pointed out the slow destruction of driving skills could be the root cause of Toyota's recall woes, we were standing alone against the beige tide. No longer! We now welcome Car and Driver to the fight.
Perhaps Beige is not the problem, but poor quality control. Then I realize that Beige cars use computers not wires to adjust the throttle, a computer makes the steering work, there is little road feel, and Beige cars have power windows.
I checked out a recent Chevy and was scared by the dozens of buttons and touch screen. At least there were levers and knobs to control the venting system.
